I don't know if it's clear skies or there has been a change in the transponder power but I've finally managed to lock something on 50W, 4090H 2963 3/4 is AIT-LAGOS. Sadly it's BISS encoded and not much to show so I'll attach the scan and TSreader. Looks like this one has been around for a while now but no keys are listed on the usual sites, a little surprising considering the country of origin!

hi -
just had a look at 50 west this morning - 4090H 2963 3/4 is AIT-LAGOS. - is now all i can receive here - from this sat
and there has been a massive increase in signal strength from that t.p.
its showing similar levels to those that the Sierra Leone, channel had before it changed in strength

Thanks for the heads up Nelson ..
Just nipped home from work to scan it in ..
A healthy 5.6 db on the F15..
Pity its encrypted tho' ....so nothing to see ...
Perhaps AIT is riding a solar flare ..which gave it a boost ???
lol

Hi Nelson, I am using the 1.8 now, guess I should post up a thread and some pics :D I couldn't even see a bump in the noise for NN24 although it's meant to be on the same beam as the AITs.

Also, getting something on 4134 H 30000 DVB-S2 8PSK, right down in the noise. Maybe someone with a bigger dish might be able to lock it.

Nothing here atm Nelson ..but I'll keep trying ..
Can you confirm its still a good signal today (SLBC) ?

All the rain has encouraged a few green shoots on that 2nd tree which is roughly in the way ..and could be having some effect..

Not even a hint of a signal ..but then ..I never could get AIT ..
I know I have a bit of a blind spot here ..but I'm thinking there should be sufficient 'clear sky' for a hint of a signal on the F15 ..
One I'll never understand ..unless the footprint is critically shaped..
Here is a picture taken at 50 west with Christinas 'eye'

I hadn't considered that. My receiver finds the transponder doing a blind scan, but can't find any services on it. Because of this and because it is 8PSK I just guessed it was below the lock threshold. Anyway that transponder is not listed in Lyngsat or KoS.

It's a shame that we have these spot beams as Intelsat 1R has become quite a haven for open channels in this neck of the woods, 36 channels scan in with about 25 itc:

hi -
no the signal is not as good this afternoon -- both SLBC and AIT are locking and showing an unbroken picture - but the signal is near borderline -- horrid weather here this afternoon though ----
the possible - "data" transponder - 4134 H 30000 DVB-S2 8PSK that huevos posted is much stronger and should show a signal on the F15 -- but no channels are revealed when scanned --
