I managed to get my first ever C-band transmissions today, after much tinkering and experimenting.
I think the lnb came from cdtronix - it was a cheap one to give me something to play with without costing the earth.
I managed to get 3 frequencies off Arabsat 5C at 20E using a 1m offset dish. I know thats probably not an idea set up but as usual Im using what I have available.
Frequencies logged were:
3884R 27500 3/4
3913R 8150 3/4
4054L 27500 3/4
No sign of any of the other frequencies on 20E at all.
The Mauritanian mux on 3913R is by far the strongest and gave a signal even when the lnb / scalar ring were grossly mis-adjusted
The lnb holder was ziptied to the dish, this worked adequately but needs rethinking before I can attempt anything weaker as it limits the amount of adjustment of both the lnb & the scalar rings..
All in all a fascianting couple of hours tinkering. The dish used was my 16E/23.5E/28E 1m Orbital with the Ku lnbs removed and the dish realigned.
