i have looked at the following website http://64.77.87.5/sport/index.html

the site looks good for matches and since i am new to a FTA system i am unsure of what matches i can pick up and what lanaguages they are in as the football season has not finished.

The website link above also says FTA next to some channels and other things next to others, if anybody can tell me what this means i will be greatful and also can you let me know of what premiership matches i can pick up on a normal football weekend(when the season is in progress) and what lanaguages i can pick them up in.

cheers all replys apprechiated

Welcome Sharkadder, as you saw L.J's is a very good site for seeing what football matches are on satellite tv.
You can pick up some fta matches which will have the FTA sign next to them, but most are encrypted and can only be seen with an official card (but not all).
And as for fta premiership matches for next season - no chance.
The season before last was not to bad, but last season nothing, and the same will be true for next season as well.
Best bet, go down the pub and watch it there.

PS. What type of receiver do you have ?

We need to know what type of receiver you will be using, ie if you are getting a FTA receiver there is no-where to put your card in.
And even if you get a card it will only show certain games, you cannot pick the one you want.
Have you bought your receiver yet, because if you haven't do yourself a favour and get a Technomate TM-1500 CI, or TM1000D.

when i get my receiver i am going to sell it for profit as i dont think its the sort you mentioned, i have a FTA receiver but i hear i can get channels encripted anyways if i get it patched, my friend has the type you said so i will ask him about it, he has 2 card slots on his receiver so maybe its better opting for that one.

if you are viewing this Rob you seem to know alot about receivers and things, if you have msn messenger i will give you my addy as i want to hear more about things and you seem the right kind of guy to ask.

thanks again for the help m8ty

I would wait until your receiver is up and working sharkadder. Nearer to the premiership season we will know more about what's happening. It maybe that a digital alb card and cam wil suffice. Cost around £120. You will only be able to watch what's being televised which could be up to 3 matches on a Saturday afternoon.

That's one of the best laugh's I've had in weeks, Jimbo probably knows ten times more about receivers than I do.
Do as he says get your system up and running and see what you can get at the start of the football season, if your receiver is not up to the job then see about getting the TM-1500 CI. For £129 it's a bargain and I don't think you will be disappointed.
:-Welcome1

PS. Not a good idea to leave e-mail addresses etc on the forum, you don't want hackers picking them up do you !, So have deleted yours.

hello again, just about these receivers, my mate has a 1tm-1000D receiver and he can have two card slots within it, you said get a 1tm1500-CI , which is the diffeencte? they both look the same kind of thing to me so can you explain which is the better choice or is they no real difference, just ive seen a tm-1000D on ebay for £60. i noticed also that the italian cup final was on FTA the other night so is the FTA system only good for picking up foreign football these days or do you have to catch it on the off chance. thanks once agaibn for the help

Right here we go:- Technomate TM-1000D FTA (No common interface)
TM-1000ci (1 common interface for cam)
TM-1500ci+(1 common interface & 1 Built in smart
card reader)
TM-1600 2ci (2 common interface for 2 cams)

If your mate has the TM-1000D (the same as mine) he does not have any card slots within or anywhere else. What he does have is two gaps which are sealed off.
That's why I suggested the TM-1500ci which does have gaps for two card readers, one which is a smart card reader, which should be able to read any card (they hope).

I think if you are after one of the Technomate range have a look under "Receivers & Systems" for Receiver Reviews and in there is a thread by the_wizzz on 06-05-2005 called "My thorough review of the Technomate TM-1500ci+, and the TM-1000 range"

Have a good look through, it's an excellent review.

As for the TM1000D going for £60 on e-bay, wait for the Tm1500ci+ it's much better at only a small extra amount of money.
All of these receivers can be "patched" which is well worth while.

PS. The TM-1000D on E-Bay was finally sold for £77 plus postage (about £10) not £60. You can buy them for £79 and free postage, the TM-1500ci+ costs about £30 more.

Ah to get all the patches on one patch, now that would be nice. Never heard of one but if you find one, you let me know. :D

As for Sky Box Office - No way, more chance of winning the lottery.
But get your patch on and you will not need Sky.

ok so say i get one of these tm receivers and get it patched, i should be able to view all of the sky channels (exept the box office) or do you have to get a patch for the sports, one for the movies etc.

also i heard you can plug something into your telephone point which is battery powered that makes the box think you have paid for pay per view, is this correct?

please somebody let me know about the patches ASAP thanks

I don't know who has been telling you about getting Sky channels, but the only way you will get Sky TV is to subscribe to Sky, no other way.
There is no patch, cam or card that will get any Sky channels, except those that are FTA.
As for something you plug into your telephone point which makes the box think you have paid for PPV channels, if you find it please let me know :D

Old tale; Don't believe everything you hear, will have you believing that Newcastle will beat Fulham next season.

at the moment the only channel you can watch without buying a card (on hotbird and astra) that will show footy are:

epl
tps star
Polsat sport
some channels which will be noted on LJ's sport page (DSF etc)

or direct feeds

you are obviuosly bound to watching whichever match they show (usually arsenal, united, liverpool or chelsea) and it isnt in english (i have radio5 live on)

i think there was only one game i wanted to watch at the end of last season that they i couldnt see.

and i also couldnt get englands first game against USA.

you could buy a 6 month art sport card but there is no gurantees it will work next season

You mentioned they show alot of man u,arsenal and chelsea well im after the newcastle games so might be abit of a stuggle there. this card you mentioned what will it allow me to do if it does work? i also hear that on some foreign channels you can change the commenty to english by moving the volume up and down, it this correct? i prefer the radio commentry anyways althought its slightly ahead of the picture, anyways of getting them to line up somehow?

Thought it might be worth mentioning about receivers that use software emulation instead of cards. It's possible to decrypt the TPS English Premier League channel on hotbird using this method. Over a weekend it shows at least 6 matches - some live, the others delayed, plus one or two delayed to Monday/Weds. Commentary in French though. When the encryption changes, you download an update of the software from internet.
My receiver (based on a Kaon board) cost about 100 GBP abroad, but in UK you can find others such as Dreambox. Users on this forum should be able to help if you want to explore this option.
