Bolton Wanderers boss Sam Allardyce insists he will fight to clear his name in the wake of allegations of illegal payments.

The Trotters manager was implicated in an expose into the football transfer market on Tuesday night.

The programme called 'Undercover: Football's Dirty Secrets' was aired on the same night that Bolton beat Walsall 3-1 in the Carling Cup, so he missed the original showing.

But the Reebok coach has vowed to clear his name should he find anything he believes to be defamatory.

"I'm aware of the situation," Allardyce explained.

"Because I haven't seen anything of the programme I need to have a look at that and to take a view of that before I make any comment whatsoever.

"But if there are things saying wrong about Sam Allardyce believe you me, I will be fighting them".

He is expected to release a statement on Wednesday morning.

i hope they cannot douse the fire and everything thrown into the open.

then hopefully people will see where the money goes, which will in turn put supporters off going to football initially, so prices have to come down and the wages some of these people get can get back to reality

Hehe, this is true. No, when I say gobsmacked, I'm refering to the way in which the agents acted - it was something normal to them, as though it was common practice.

In any case, there will either be major punishments handed out... or nothing, and the FA will sweep it under the carpet like everything else they do.

With so much money involved it is obvious there is going to be backhanders, bungs and all sorts of things happening. During the whole program I was keeping my fingers crossed that Manchester United would not be one of the clubs involved...At the moment it looks like MU can't buy anyone so bungs are not needed. Maybe they should try reverse bungs, that'll get us a player ot two?

But I am sure in some clubs, managers, accountants and players agencies there will be urgent meetings with expensive lawyers and a lot of paper shredding sessions going on
