My area does not get a freeview signal. We can only get channel 5 for example via Sky )(-red

Can I attached a freeview box to my existing satellite system of TM5500DAPCI and Triax 88cm dish with actuator:confused

or will an old sly box do this for me as I hate having to pay money to that Aussie swine who rob's us all blind!!)(-red

A secondhand digibox will be fine, you will need a freesat card though, they are £20 or so.

Thanks Rolf. So I used get something like
1. Free to viwe card for sky (the one with the yellow house)
2.Thompson DSI4214 digi box (or any better recommended by you)

Have aslo just seen on *bay a USB digital TV stick to watch freeview on the PC, any good?

The USB digital stick is for terrestrial Freeview signals. According to your first post they are virtually non-existant so it will be no use.

Not too sure on Digibox variations but you will certainly need a card if you want to watch C4, Five and $ly 3.

And if you still want to use your existing receiver, you'll want a twin LNB,
if you haven't got one already.

Why would I need a twin LNB? Not sure I understand. I thought I could loop the cheap sky digi box through my existing reciever:confused

basically I have a TM5500DAPCI with a motorised system and 0.3LNB.

Advice on correct set up will really be :-worship

Because the polarity of the primary box dictates the polarity of the loop through box thus limiting your viewing substantially hence using a twin lnb will allow independant selection of vertical and horizontal by either receiver at the same time

Another option of course, is to get another dish, just for 28.2E. That way you won't have to keep remembering to put the dish back on 28.2E,
so as not to annoy the sly box, and for when you want to watch using the sly box. (The swines box, likes to have a mini tantrum if you cut off its umbilical cord from 28E for too long, and refuses to play for a little while.)

Also if you wanted a free to view satellite system in another room at a later date, you would be more prepared, especially if you put a TWIN or a QUAD on it too.
