I have rail roaded my Dad into buying a 9200t but when he took it home to the isle of man the coverage is appalling, see here

Does anyone know if or when the rest of the channels will be available on the island?
Or maybe where I can find out ?

DSO has finished in the Isle of Man. If hes out of range of one of the main transmitters (Caldbeck near Carlisle for starters) thats it for the foreseeable future. Unfortunately much of the old Border / IOM ITV area has very poor dtt coverage - something like 48% of Border Scotland residents only get Freeview Lite!

It's Foxdale, he's less than 3 miles from the transmitter does that mean the poor effort they transmit now is all he is getting?

Yup - Freeview Lite from Foxdale. Same as most of the Scottish Borders. Only folk who can get channels off Selkirk get the full monty. The poor sods who have their pictures off the 11 relays get half a service.

The reason for half a service is the commercial operators didnt want to cough up for all the extra transmitters for each and every tiddly relay.

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

If your dad has a Sky+ box then he would get all the channels anyway (well not the HD ones of course).

Even if the subscription is stopped after 12 months then the recording facility goes down the pan but not much else.

Her indoors records Corrie, emmerdale holyoakes etc...
Has anyone tried a spiderbox, I have heard they are simple to use (just as a pvr not cCcam)?

Remember you will only get epg now & next off a spiderbox - if you want the full epg you are limited to Sky or Freesat. No good if someone is going out all day and wants to record an evening show.....

Yep....

Thats the end of that then... what about an AZ box?
It's looking like the Freesat for him but... what about me...
The screen is going darker on RCS now & we know it's on it's way out is there any other options other than cs ?
I tried a dm 500 and was frustrated with the screen freezing using cs, any other choices ?

Same problem - some boxes can be persuaded to download an epg of sorts from somewhere like the Radio Times site using plugins although you would have to find out what the current situation as to whats possible.
