There's not much difference in operation between the standard fun card and silver cards, just differences in the types of chips onboard. The gold card has been adequate for most single encryption purposes, so why pay more. The bigger memory cards come into their own when more providers and encryption methods are to be addressed, or when the encryption method becomes more complex and perhaps requires more input from the card.
