Why is the SCII chip larger than purple, gold etc?

what is the "SCII chip"? Never heard of it.
And do you mean that it is bigger than the chip in the purple card and the goldwafer, or do you mean it is bigger than the entire cards??

Pic 'Silver card 2'. The gold chip is a different size and orientation to the others. By this mere fact I wasn't sure if it would be suitable for use with elvis, although it seems to program okay

Has far has I know the silver card 2 uses a slightly different processor 16f877 and sometimes a different flash memory than the standard LC64 than that used in Silver card one that is why it appears different,

Normally on most software, the differnace in processor type is not a problem.
