Hello all - I have had two Sky cards for a while now - one for a UK sub which is paired to my box and the other is an Irish card which I use for RTE1 etc.
As of this morning, the RTE card which always worked fine says 'wrong card for this set top box, call 08442 414141'. Has Sky's policy changed and do all cards now have to be paired to the box, even for the non sports and movie channels?
I have had no problems swapping the cards before although I haven't put the Irish card in for about three weeks. The box still recognises it as an Irish card as 101 changed to RTE1.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I tried my sky card in my old Sky+ box the other day. I use it as a FTA box but just wanted my regional channels on 101, 103 etc. and Sky1 and the cartoon channels worked fine

And thats the issue
With the new cards they "go to sleep" after a shorter time out of a sky box than the old cards.
Whereas the old cards showed the "please upgrade" message when they were "alseep", the white cards show "wrong card" messages.
To "wake them up" leave the card in a box that is getting a signal. Channels shold reappear over the next few hours to 72 hours they say.
Some reports say that they can only be "woken up" in the sky box the card was paired to, but I have done a few in nonpaired boxes...

There does appear to be a difference with white cards. I have a friend with a market stall. If he gets any white cards he saves them for me. I have had seven so far. Four have cleared and three haven't. The three that haven't cleared have been in the box for up to three weeks. They select the correct regions for ITV and BBC but CH5 (and all other encrypted channels) continues to give "wrong card" message. Subscriber PaulR has a theory that cards that have been paired with the Premium channels activated need to get reawakened in the original box. He may be correct
