I am looking for a PVR which is HD capable, (NOT SKY)
as I was hoping not to have to upgrade it later on.

I have found the following - PACE TDS850H
(http://www.pacemicro.com/corporate/products/prodinfo.asp?PID=TDS850HD),
but could not find a release date. Anyone know when this is available?
Or do you know of any other manufacturers doing a similar thing?

Thanks

Looks like this unit is only available to operators (ie SKY).
I must say that since I bought my Humax HDCI-2000 HD receiver to replace my Sky multiroom box I really feel like going the whole hog and ditching the Sky+ box as well. However you do get used to having the PVR function that I too would like a HD capable receiver with PVR functionality before I do this.:-doh!

Why would PACE only release this to operators?

They may not be interested is selling individual boxes but bulk buys from operators make production worth while?

You could write and ask them...

unfortunately, none of the above is available at the moment...

btw Dreambox is of course very "versatile" but the most complex too...

Humax is going to have a PVR (called PR-HD3000/PR-HD5000), introduced at IFA: it could be a very good receiver, also due to the fact they already have a deep experience in HDTV/mpeg4/dvb-s2 receivers

Homecast would be a good choiche too: they already havce a hdtv (non PVR) receiver working fine at the moment

Dump SKY you wont find much of a replacement in terms of quality.

maybe not but £30 a month for 199 channels that i don't watch is a bit steep
