What are the current choices for a reasonably priced, stable, HD box (no need for card readers or wifi) ideally with 2 HDMI outs?

Ability to work with a motorised dish would be nice but not essential.

How many free HD channels are there at the moment?

Thanks :)

Not exactly very much in the way of free HD channels on 28.2E:

BBC1
BBC HD
ITV HD
Channel 4

Do Sky or Virgin offer many more HD channels?

There are at least 3 more - STV (Scotland), RT HD & NHK World HD

Sky has loads more (50 or 60 now Id guess) - all encrypted of course.

Thanks for the replies :)

I haven't got an HD television yet so looking at options at the moment, or lack of, if I don't get Sky.

I can probably get around only having a single HDMI out with a splitter - I'm not using the HDMI pass-through setting on my AV receiver as it uses 60W in standby to do HDMI pass-through when it's "off" :-nuts

thats got to be your first step imho, you will see a big difference in picture even on sd channels you will think your watching HD,

plenty of options out there as you know ;-)

lots of options nowadays to move your signal around your home/world with great quality ;-).
