I bought something very similar recently. I've only actually got it working once :(

Hope you have better luck with yours!

That may be if copyright protection (HDCP) has been enabled by the broadcaster. This is a handshaking protocol that the receiver and TV have to achieve in order for anything to be displayed on the TV.

It was expressly designed to stop HD content being "borrowed" for elsewhere, either live or recorded. Frankly I can't see how a splitter would allow this as surely a second TV would have a different handshake protocol to the first.

... to sky box.
... an M 3 "Skybox" ...
Are we talking about the same thing here? The M3 Skybox is a totally different animal to the B$lyB boxes. The $ly offering is the most likely to give problems with HDCP handshaking as they are out to make as much money as they can from transmissions and not from selling the box.
It's meant to be an HDCP stripper too.
Again I can't see how that would work as absence of the HDCP handshake would mean a black screen.

Indeed --- not the same thing at all --- as you say the B$lyB receiver is a completely different box ---
i,v only used the splitter with a M3 and a Dr HD F15 .
i would test it on a B$lyB box but the wires etc are all so difficult to get to on my setup .. i,m sure someone on here must have tried it ? :)

With HDMI signals if you go cheap you may/will have problems, I don't by anything under $50 US for an HDMI splitter, but I don't think you can order the stuff I use over there, if you can then here is one I know will work.

These do strip HDCP though I have tried it with an HDCP device that wouldn't allow me to capture with my HDMI capture device without it.
