Help i'm new to all this

Sorry, but we all have to start somewhere, if someone could point me in the right direction.
I've searched various forums but can't find any answers, firstly my problem , i've just purchased a MAXIMUS multi programmer and various cards basically to experiment with, the programmer even has instructions with it (i didn't think i was so stupid but obviously i am)While trying to write to a goldcard using chip chat software its fairly straightforward ii've loaded both the kevla? files pic & eeprom into there relevant folders 1 & 2 and hit the write button whereupon it installs a loader it then instructs me to change the switch to the mouse mode 1. I guess this is the in position then there is an error message "loader does not work"
What exactly does this mean as the instructions that came with the programmer say "no loader files are required as it writes its own loader"

Hi cannydanny,
In simple terms the goldwafer contains a Pic and an Eprom. The problem is that the Eprom is connected behind the Pic chip. To program the Eprom you must install a loader file onto the pic. This loader file lets the Eprom Hex pass through the Pic to the Eprom.
Some programming software has the loader file included to make life simple, Chipchat being one of them.

There is a tutorial at sat4all http://satpages.sat4all.com/ in the software,chipchat section.

Be sure that you have set the correct card type .For goldwafer it should be set to Pic/wafer card PIC 16F84/24lc16.

Thanks nobbly for your kind reply, I've managed to sort out my initial problem apparantly it was a com port conflict, perhaps you can have me with another problem ? Having managed to write both the pic and eeprom files to the goldwafer the card still will not work and isn't even reconised, with the words please insert your smartcard appearing. I know the system is working as i have another pcb card thats fine, which was provided by another. Am i using the correct files Kevla? 164 and do i need to carryout some sort of activation.
Any pointers in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Try more hex files. It might be that the hex you have doesn't work with your reciever or it might be that the codes are out of date.

Thanks nobbly for your kind advice i downloaded the files again and its working perfectly, I've also got motorised dss with various cams and cards, but before i tackle that one i guess l need to do a lot of research.
