the press dont think we should go hi tec in the premiership because

A, most people dont want it
B, it will spoil the game
C, take to much away from the ref

now personally i think the ref could do with the help, the game is now faster than ever, and loosing games seems to do more damage to a club than it ever did (more money involved)
that and the fact that TV now have cameras covering all angles showing up any mistakes that Referees in years gone by would have got away with.

i think any important decisions should be viewed by the ref at pitch side, like in Rugby

i think we need video replays for a 4th official... if we are to believe what were told, then this is what happened when Zidane got sent off.

so to prove the press wrong im conducting a poll, to see if the public do indeed prefere things as they are.

I think this particular world cup highlited the need for some sort of replay/help function for the referee....I've seen a few world cups now but in my estimation this was probably the most cynical I've witnessed yet..the Dutch match V portugal probably capped it all for me.. with the USA V Italy a close second....bring it on it can only help.

already it looks like it would be a popular decision, no suprise really.

No one likes to see bad decisions made by the referee, and obviously no one likes to see goals being given to teams that have cheated the ref either.

i just wonder if this technology could be used to spot persistant divers? maybe a 4th official could bring that to the attention of the ref during the game :)

JVC brought out a commercial four years ago which featured just this..... In a soccer match, there is a possible penalty... The referee puts the "Square in the air" and two other officials run onto the pitch with JVC flat TVs.

Only saw it on Dutch TV though!

well to me it still looks as though video evidence would be a popular choice... at least with the satellite.co.uk users.

if it saves arguments and stops divers and cheaters etc.. then how can it not be a good thing?

I could not agree more. Watford got robbed today, (replay shown in a few seconds) clearly, NO PENALTY

I agree with Red Hugh. The only incompetence in the Everton v Watford game was shown by the officials.

Sheffield United suffered at the hands of Rob Styles as well.

It seems very odd in this day and age of technology, we're still relying on the sometimes gimpy eyes of refs and linesmen. ;) So I vote for digital camera replays. :)

You better get used to it if you're gonna play in the Premiereship. I'm a Birmingham City fan, and although I may be biased I swear that if there had been more help for refs to get their decisions right, we would have drawn enough games that we lost to have stayed up last season...
