Lets just hope it doesnt do a Comet Kohoetek (1973) That was going to be the comet of the century and barely made it to naked eye visibility....

I remember Hale-Bop and Halleys comet. Both were fantastic to view. Hale-Bop was around when i lived in Aberdeen. it looked great up there but when i visited the Midlands you could only see half of it due to light pollution and all the crap in the air.

Please do that Paul ..Photos are a must ..particularly as us OOOop North rarely see anything of note in the heavens..
The combination of light pollution and thick cloud kills anything exciting as per..

Last week in Skye was awesome- bright stars right down to the horizon. Seen that space debris burning up very brightly up there. The milky way was plain to see.

i think the weather turned out to be not bad the week you were there - :)
a bad back has put me out of action for the past 10 days -on the mend though now - looking to return to Skye anytime after thursday if the weather is ok .

"indeed " -- there is no light pollution in the highlands and islands - i recall once walking on a beach in north west sutherland at midnight, one autumn -- and being able to see my way just by starlight -- ( no moon )

 :-righton

Not anywhere as far as I can see. It could be that your post got lost in the changeover of forum software.

It was an inane reference to "Day of the Triffids"
