Hi guys,

I would really appriciate any advice and help. I am a bit stuck with my newly built house which is already wired with both areal & sat cables and sockets/Outlets:

1. Two cables come from outside: one from a 3 multi-lnb dish and one from areal. They both go into the storage room.

2. Two cables come from each of the 4 rooms Sat/TV sockets and go into the storage room as well. They meet with the other two cables that come from outside.

How do I make the sat and areal work in all 4 rooms?

Many thanks!

Ali

Hi,

MOre details are required.

What LNB types do you have on the dish, are they singles, or quads (i.e how many connectors does each one have on it?)

What exactly happens in this storage room, how do the cables meet? is there some sort of connection box, or are they all just connected together somehow?

What are the two cables going to each room, is one satellite and the other aerial or what?

How does it work at the moment?

Hi Robbo,
Thanks for your reply:

Storage room is just like saying a loft where all cables meet. There is no switches, splitters nor diplexers. I am just using my TV in the lounge by connecting the areal and sat directly from inside the storage room where the cables meet from both inside and outside.
The 3 multi-LNBs I have on the dish are twin LNBs going into 2 DISECQ switches outside. I managed to add a second sat cable into the storage room from outside to connect a second room with sat but that leaves the other two rooms not connected with sat and areal?
My problem I think is the type of TV/Sat outlets I have on the wall which I suspect take only one cable but in the wall there are two cables, meant one for sat and one for areal.?And also I am stuck as to what swithches combiners, diplexers i will need to connect all areal in the 4 rooms?

I am just trying to figure out how to connect them all?

Hope this explains better.

Thanks!

You'll need to change your LNBs to quads and have four 4-way DiSEqC switches with a cable from each running into the store room. Then you'll need a four way amplifier (or passive splitter if your signal is strong enough) for the terrestrial side of things. Then connect these to the internal cables.

Thank you Rolf,

I think my 4 x TV/Sat outlets I have take only one cable each but behind each of these outlets there are two cables that go to the strorage room. It makes it 8 cables from 4 outlets that go into storage room.
Does this mean that one cable is for both sat and areal and the second for a return or what? Or do I need to buy different TV/Sat outlets that take each cable seperatly?

Thank you!

Twin outlet plates are easy to find, I tend to use the better quality twin satellite outlet, they'll both be "F" type connectors, but i prefer then anyway.
You can also diplex satellite and aerial feeds down one cable, using the second feed for a second satellite feed and or satellite and return.
