Hi guys..
I am about to buy a Humax hdci 2000 on line from a german Sat shop....eubnet.de/shop, but I can't do a direct credit card transaction..it's looking for a "bank transfer in advance" payment, can anyone tell me how this works and does it delay the whole process..cheers

Hi gandalfthegrey,
it shouldn't cause to much of a delay, but check the amount the banks charge, for this transaction, as when I looked into using this service, a few years back, to buy a MII card, the charges made the trasaction unfeasible.

UK banks (and maybe Irish?) charge between £10 and £20 to transfer money to a European bank account (and I belive this breaks EU rules as well).

'kin bankers.

I occasionaly buy things from Germany and the germans mostly deal in bank transfer, the UK banks want to charge ridiculous amount for such a simple thing. )(-red

Luckily I have a german friend who also has a UK account, so she does the transfers for me, and I pay into her account. :)

Transfer between Eurozone countries is free or nominal (e.g 20 cents). Any Irish bank will do so if you supply them with IBAN (international bank account number) and BIC (bank identifier code). It helps if you also supply bank name, address, account number and routing numbers although they are not really required.

Transfer from Ireland typically takes 2-3 days.

The Germans must be a very trusting people (or do they have a law) after all a bank transfer means they have your money but you could be waiting in hope for the delivery of your goods with no means of recourse, it is generally accepted in the UK that anyone who asks for a bank transfer for mail order goods should be treated with extreme caution

Nearly all german sites just accept bank transfer, there not too fond of credit cards/paypal ( and some of the ones that accept those, add a credit card charge). If the site looks dodgy then stay away, but theres is an awful lot of good german satellite shops. Hm-sat.de is very good and also smartcard24.de (.com?) ( they accepted credit card when i got 2 dreambox's off them about 6 months ago)
