How much Disk space on 7020 for 1 hour recording

I plan to put a disk in my 7020, but how big??
500Gb seems the limit for IDE.

1. How much space does 1 hour of recording take?

2. Can I control the quality the way I can on my Pioneer DVR??

3. Is it the same on all distros??

I think 1 hour is about 2 - 3gb of space (might be affected by the bitrate of the program being recorded).

Haven't seen anyway to change the recording bitrate.

I have an almost similar setup with 7000S and Pioneer DVR and I hardly use the Dreambox HDD.
If your Pioneer has HDD, then I would suggest to record with it, instead of with the 7020
You can install any good old hard disk for testing first, and then decide to go for the largest size.
Manipulating the files stored on the Dreambox to make a DVD is quite time consuming.

The DVR is nice with its skip and edit facilities, but is getting a bit old.
I notice some problems with the video output (possibly input)these days.
The screens lines and text from the 7020 are not as crisp as when sent direct to the TV.

I am also attracted to the idea of being able to copy films across, from the 7020
to my PC, via the network, rather than burning to DVD and then ripping that back again on the PC.

You can always record to both DVR and 7020 at the same time.
