HUGE crash for Alan McNish at Le Mans! (on Eurosport)
Car clips a backmarker, goes across gravel trap, gets airbourne, his barrier and tire barrier, flips, rolls, spins, disintergrates and rolled bits all over the place, damage to barriers, wheels all over the place, debris all over the place, car was lucky not to go over the guard rail into the crowd, lots of photographers at that corner scrambling away from the debis...but Alan OK and out of the car - but looks winded! Could have been very bad with the debris into the crowd but all looks OK.

Apparently Pedro de le Rosa only knew he would be driving 10 minutes before he ws due in the car!

Bl00dy hell - that could easily have been a horrendous Le Mans accident with multiple fatalities

Fortunatley looks like no-one was seriously hurt.

Crikey, that was some BIG accident. The guy who was crouching near his scooter will never be as lucky again.

on the replays you can see one of the photographers started to run away, the stopped and turned and started photgraphing the accident as the debris was flying all around him...
and to think that if it was a few kms faster or even slower it may have hit the tyre wall differently and gone over the catch fence into the crowd....very lucky.
Alan has gone for a few scans, but is OK, they say.
This years first few hours of L24 does seem to be better than usual

youtube link of mcnishes crash...and replays (audio in german I think! I am sure one of the brish eurosport commentators could be heard saying "shit" when they saw the crash)

Yeah. Just seen it. Looks like driver is OK as they say he got out of the car by himself...but hes going to lhospital for checks. Bloody slow cars.
only 15 hours left...

update: mike rockerfella. hit the barriers hard. race still under yellow whilst they repair the barriers - over 90mins since the accident. Not a lot left of rockafellers audi - looks like just the monococque and survival cell!

the aftermath - looks like most of this is from the CCTV that cover the track for race control
onboard of the accident at 4.40...being pushed onto the grass whilst passing a slower car at like 200mph going into a fast right hand corner must not be nice...
7.35 - as much of an external view there is...dispite flashing his lights the slower car still looks to veer into its path as it tries to make the corner...then ouch.

Alan mcnish is OK from earlier accident. He has just been on radio lemans talking about the accident.
