I have been using Invacom LNBs for about 8 years and the only two peoblems I have ever had was one feed blowing on the LNB after a lighning strike on a twin Invavom and one feed going soft on a quad, I think through continued exposure to very hot sun, although that has never been repeated in over 6 years since the current LNB was installed.
Sounds very odd - I have a 2.4PF and Invacom quad and never had a similar issue. My cable runs vary from about 5 to 50m and I notice only a very slight difference in the reception from either length. A friend has an identical set up and is providing feeds of about 80m to his next door neighbour - again without any problems. For me the receiver makes the biggest difference. I am using several types; 2*Pace 2600c + 1 cheapo Manhatten + 1 Humax Foxsat and getting perfect but different levals of reception on all the boxes. To me it sounds like you may have a blown LNB or a possible shorting problem in the feed voltage to the LNB or only one of the boxes giving out the LNB voltage feed. Its never even been tweaked since then either! I did hear of somone with a problem a little like yours but that turned out to be because he was using a quattro thinking it was a quad!
