I 'm thinking of putting out a black Inverto Ultra to replace my present Schwaiger,on a 120cm dish in Carcassonne, aimed at 28East
1) would that improve BBC reception?1,2,3,and4?
I do get C4 ,which is nice,and even better,Ch5HD and SD,pretty useless(tasteless programming I mean),but excellent reception.
2) covering it in white sticky tape/paint it white?
as summers tend to be hot & LNBs work better when cold
3) why do they paint them black in the 1st place?
They could provide them white in a black box....:D

Are you talking about the original IBUs or the newer PLL Ultras? The original IBU Twin is better at lower frequencies (like BBC) than the Single version. No idea how they compare to the Schwaiger though I doubt there'd be a huge improvement but you never know.

I find a piece of plastic gutter zip tied over the LNB works well to stop IBUs cooking in the sun.

actally,I have both

the older one has been in use for 18 months... until I thought it was declining, when in fact it was the signal strength...when the new frequencies & technical specifications were introduced.
I bought it around 2017,used for 18 months
The older one
BIU
Single HGLN 40 mm LNB
Item 3116
IDLB Singl40-ultra-opp

The newer one
sl
ightly shorter & more slender than the older one, never used , is called
Ultra
SingleHGLN 40 mm PLL LNB
Designed in LU
Made in China

It so happened that, upon having swapped for the Schwaiger, propagation picked up (september coming, clearer sky, whatever)
I concluded Schwaiger was better...until the propagation cycle repeated the following year (as it does now)
Now I don t know!

Hello and thank you
I get Astra and Hotbird on a quite old "no name" monoblock. Works fine ,I get everything from both 13&19 .
And even ,by a slight move,9E and 16E,26E and 8W and 7w(weaker),using 1 lnb at a time for these.
My problem is 28E,knowing that E/F/G are just slightly different, when seemingly ALL of 13 & 19 are at the same place.

btw today BBC 1 & 2 came back, seems the curve is going upward again!
Check all the BBC regions. BBC One South HD is the only one I can receive on 28E.
