Just had a bash at changing a battery in one of these b*st*rd things. Got a replacement battery, carefully striped Ipod down, removed and replaced battery all going well until when trying to re assemble unit (which just flops about when in bits) one of the cables came off the battery. The unit then had me jumping up and down on it and is now in the bin.

Horrible horrible units to work on!

Yes they are not very nice, I have had a 30GB unit sat on my desk for 18 months, usual faulty HD, will probably have to resort to the same as never see a replacement drive going cheap enough to bother

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

You need a highly specialised tool to repair all ipods, from the first to the latest...

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

I can probably save you a fine for disposing of electronics with potential hazardous materials without the correct licence.

Post it here and no questions asked :-righton

I have to be fair to Apple. I followed a replacement video on Youtube which got me to strip it down completely - The Ifixit one is so much better (found it too late). So I took it apart too much. As a test I wiggled and pulled the cables on the old battery and the cables didn´t come loose unlike the replacement battery!

I was doing it for the GF, I had convinced her it was better to repair (was only 2GB unit), she is now happly looking at buying a 16GB Nano 6th or 7th Gen!
