Is ITV News to be dropped from FreeView?

ITV have a dilemma. ITV4 has to go onto FreeView (its downtime will be used for CITV from next year, so it HAS to go to DTT). Now ITV has 5 DTT slots, currently carrying ITV1, ITV2, ITV3, ITV News, and Men & Motors.

Either something has to go, or they hire time from a competitor. Men & Motors would be the most obvious one to be jettisoned, but it is predicted to be less unprofitable than ITV News.

Someone at ITV HQ has some hard choices to make......

ITV News was missing for months from Freeview - even after they posted it would start again - so I don't think they would have any problem ditching it.
