I'm afraid that this will happen again and again in central Italy because the central Italian mountain range is right on a fault-line between two tectonic plates which are continually slowly moving relative to each other, and many buildings in that region are very old and not of earthquake-resistant construction - nevertheless, it is very sad to hear that it has happened.

Yes, essentially. Epicentre a little further north, but very much part of the same fault.

Fortunately this seems less severe but might not herald the end of recent activity.
