The brightest thing about Southern was their logo . . . I like to think Out of Town referred to Portsmouth. :-rofl2 I wonder what was in his pipe? Fred Dinenage is still going, presenting the news with Sangeeta, they make an odd couple. Amusingly ITV has been forced to bring back many of the regional news programmes. Border is back to covering the Borders and Cumbria after a bizarre few years when half the programme covered Tyne Tees region where it isn't even transmitted! Cretins! Meridian Thames Valley news has also been brought back which makes a lot of sense as about four million people live there in one of the most economically important areas of the country. I doubt we will see any return to proper regional programmes unless they are forced to make them. The golden days are long gone.
