itv1 on sky box

Does anyone know why this channel is now ftv rather than fta on the sky box ?

Yes, some regions are not on Astra 2D (the satellite with the restricted beam), as there was not enough space, so they have encrypted those regions. There is a long thread about it in the Freesat section.

Thanks rolfw , it was a bit of a shock as i haven't tryed to watch it witout a card in a long time , today i did a sky freesat instalation and when i was just about to show the customer that she can get itv without the viewing card it was not showing . However it's still fta at the back of the epg itv1 london .

The ftv only affects half a dozen sub regions. ITV have had to give up one of their Astra 2D frequencies and the affected channels have had to go ftv.
