Barrichello (12th) and Piquet (14th) also dropped out.</span></p><p></p><p><span style="font-family: 'Franklin Gothic Medium'">On to the all important final session, and after the first run-outs, Massa was quickest with Hamilton, Kovalainen and Raikkonen in the top 5 (3rd to 5th), but the surprise name with 4 minutes to go was BMW's Polish pilot Robert Kubica.</span></p><p></p><p><span style="font-family: 'Franklin Gothic Medium'">Raikkonen (4th) and Kovalainen (5th) could not threathen the top 3, and so the showdown was set. Hamilton was first to set his final time - 1st. Next up was Kubica, and to everyone's surprise, he trumped the Brit. Finally, the last man to set a time on Saturday was Massa. Approaching the line shortly after a slow Raikkonen, the Brazilian failed to beat Kubica, but did take 2nd on the grid. Hamilton starts tomorrow from 3rd. The questions around the grid will now focus on just how much fuel the three are carrying into the race.</span></p><p></p><p><span style="font-family: 'Franklin Gothic Medium'">Jenson Button and Honda are showing signs of progress under Ross Brawn, qualifying in 9th and sharing the fifth row of the grid with two-time champion Fernando Alonso.</span></p><p></p><p><span style="font-family: 'Franklin Gothic Medium'">Nick Heidfeld could not emulate his team mate's performance.
