Massa got off the start far quicker than pole-sitter Kubica, and Kimi jumped up to 2nd thanks to Hamilton’s terrible launch (more on that in a moment).Shortly afterwards in lap 3, Kimi overtook Kubica for 2nd, and the Ferrari 1-2 was on. All that was left to decide was who would win – Massa or Kimi?Racing at Ferrari is back, and Kimi pushed Massa throughout the first period of the race. It transpired that it was Massa who was carrying more fuel, and Massa led Kimi after the first pit stops. The battle continued, as the two exchanged fastest laps, and so the second pit stops would dictate the result. Kimi came in first, and in the same lap Massa set a new fastest lap. That was enough for the Brazilian, who came in the very next lap and came out ahead of Raikkonen.Kubica was never at any risk of losing his 3rd place, and during the early stages of the race was even able to keep Raikkonen insight.But what of Hamilton? Lewis’ day was a disaster! A nightmare start off the grid left the Brit ending the first lap in 9th, behind Fernando Alonso. And then the talking point of the race occurred in lap 2. Coming out of turn 3, Hamilton ran into the rear right tyre of Alonso, losing his front wing in the process. Conspiracy spiralled – Had Alonso ‘checked’ his enemy? The facts, as McLaren confirmed later, were that Hamilton’s front wing failed through the turn, resulting in the bizarre heightened acceleration exiting the turn. Hamilton would end the race bereft of points, in 13th.Hamilton’s teammate, Heikki Kovalainen, had a far less eventful race, but coming in 5th will disappoint no one. Nick Heidfeld’s grand prix was also a quiet affair, but a 4th place finish makes BMW’s weekend another massive step forward – can the German outfit now challenge for a win?The last three points paying positions went to Trulli, Webber, and Rosberg.And finally, the Button-Coulthard incident! Chasing DC, Button dived into non-existent space into a tight turn, but before Jenson could pull away, he lost the back-end of the car and took a piggyback on Coulthard’s right side. DC, one would imagine, was not amused.<a href="http://www.formula1.com/results/driver/" target="_blank">Drivers’ Championship</a>Raikkonen takes the lead in the Championship, with Heidfeld remaining in 2nd.
