Starting in pole, the Brit spun at the start of lap 2 and Raikkonen took advantage, leaving LH to chase the Finn.</span></span></p><p></p><p><span style="color: black"><span style="font-family: 'Franklin Gothic Medium'">The first round of pit stops came and went, and Raikkonen at one time had a lead of over 5 seconds. However, the hard tyres that McLaren had saved for the second stop and final sector of the race were to prove invaluable for LH.</span></span></p><p></p><p><span style="color: black"><span style="font-family: 'Franklin Gothic Medium'">Once equipped with the harder rubbers, Lewis was able to close the gap swiftly, but it would take the famous Spa rain to open up Raikkonen’s defences and see Hamilton overtake the Ice Man. In the penultimate lap, Hamilton attacked at La Source and went past Raikkonen, only for Lewis to slide and let Raikkonen back through again! But the favour was returned as Kimi aquaplaned before going off completely and finishing his race not soaked in champagne but in dirty water.</span></span></p><p></p><p><span style="color: black"><span style="font-family: 'Franklin Gothic Medium'">And Lewis won again… or so we thought. After the race, the race officials re-analysed the Hamilton slide incident in which the McLaren driver clearly cut a corner but duely let Raikkonen repass. The verdict – unfair advantage!!! Hamilton was punished with a 25sec time penalty and loses the race win to none other than his biggest challenger for the World Championship – Ferrari’s Felipe Massa.</span></span></p><p></p><p><span style="color: black"><span style="font-family: 'Franklin Gothic Medium'">The FIA jury is out, but for many the incident and judgement is as muddy as Kimi’s beached car.</span></span></p><p></p><p><span style="color: black"><span style="font-family: 'Franklin Gothic Medium'">So, Felipe Massa takes the big points. In 2nd, having finished the actually race in 3rd, is Nick Heidfeld. When the rain began to fall with so few laps to go, few took the chance to pit for wets, but Heidfeld did and was rewarded for his daring in incredible fashion as the German passed at least 4 drivers in the final lap. This left Fernando Alonso having to settle off the podium in 4th.</span></span></p><p></p><p><span style="color: black"><span style="font-family: 'Franklin Gothic Medium'">5th and 7th respectively were Toro Rosso’s two Sebs – Sebastian Vettel and Sebastien Bourdais. Having threatened the leading pair in Valencia, Oily has blown the doors wide open with a season best equalling score of 132pts. With 5 races to go, and F1 Aberdeen and Dynamo both scoring +100pts this race, this is a championship that will go to the wire. Auto-Dynamo, with 1 GP in Europe remaining, are currently the favourites for the European Cup.</span></span></p><p></p><p><span style="color: black"><span style="font-family: 'Franklin Gothic Medium'">This is only the second time in SupaLiga history that there have been 6 centurions.
