Once Ralf had his first pit stop, Alonso was able to catch up with the Ferraris, and after his first stop, was ahead of Massa, and chasing Schumi. The real drama came when Schumi made his final stop, as when he returned to the track on his out-lap, his engine relented, and the Spaniard lead from then until the chequered flag.</span></em></p><p> </p><p><em><span style="font-family: 'Verdana'">Massa</span></em><em><span style="font-family: 'Verdana'"> would finish in 2nd, more than 16 seconds behind the World Champion. Fisichella came in 3rd in an emotional race for him, having lost his best friend during the week.
