Ive just installed a pci K-world tv card in my desktop computer Ive got it up and running so I can do my screencaps for the forum, but I have to say the supplied Hypermedia s/w is horrible.

Anyone got any suggestions for better s/w for one of these beasties? (Preferably free!)

BDA drivers? Try ProgDVB or DVB Dream. Or maybe DVBViewer Pro and its plugins if you don't mind paying a little extra.

No idea what drivers - its an analogue/digital tv card though not a satellite card. With no aerial on the house its got 2 channels going into it atm! (Dreambox & Sky!)

The audio has a lot of buzzes on it too atm - I need to sort that out sometime or it'll drive me nuts.

What's the model number of your card? Most cards use BDA drivers now. No harm in trying any of the above mentioned S/W.

I never liked ProgDVB much, even the Pro version. How about My Theatre? I stick with DVB Viewer Pro on both my cards, satellite and terrestial. The Transedit plugin is very informative, you get loads of mux info in the analyser -

I'll try My Theatre after dinner - not getting anywhere with ProgDVB.

Im not in the slightest bit impressed with the HyperMedia s/w supplied with the card - the old Pinnacle s/w supplied with my 8 year old card looks and performs far better. HyperMedia looks like its been designed by a 5 year old, and bog all can be configured on it.

Oh and the supplied remote control is more or less useless...... Another redundant one to clutter up the draws under the computer table...

Well forget My Theatre - its €41 to register it (or it times out after an hour) - thats more than the tv card cost! It doesnt seem to support the analogue tuner in the K-world anyway.

Yeah, forgot about the time out. I don't use it for recording, just OK for popping in to.

25 Euro for DVBViewer Pro seems reasonable against that one. Don't get the basic Technisat DVB Viewer - only for B2C2 driver cards such as Skystar.

Well I finally found a solution that suits me - I put the old card back in and have reverted to the decent Pinnacle s/w. :-rofl2. I'll have to make do with only having 4:3 on it.....

So now both cards are in the computer and I can swap the antenna outputs over when I have more inspiration. The problem Im running into with the new card is that the third party s/w doesnt seem to support analogue input via rf, and thats a vital requirement for me.

GBPVR (now NPVR) is free - Haven't tried it for analogue inputs, but I believe you need a card with hardware encoding
