Well, I think after all the euphoria settles down, and Newcastle win a few games on the adrenalin that Keegan's arrival will inject it will all go to the inevitable. So what has Keegan done ever since he left Newcastle 10 years ago? Took Fulham up to the PL, very nice. Was in my opinion a bad England manager. Took City up two divisions, very nice, but failed to do anything spectacular with city, even though he did invest quite a bit of cash at the time. Of course Newcastle think they are a bigger club than city, but city fans don't see it that way...I can clearly remember that after Keegan let a few of his players were questioning his training methods, saying that they were very basic and old fashioned. So, in my opinion Keegan has some good things going for him: He is a nice chap, the players like him and he is a good motivator. But he is not a modern type manager, he is not tactically astute and the media and the Newcastle supporters will hound him the minute things start to go wrong. And they will for sure...it will end in tears I am afraid (the same thing I said when I heard he was appointed England manager). He is just not good enough to take Newcastle to where they think they want to go.

As a Liverpool fan i have fond memories of KK as a player. I also remember the great games played between the two teams whilst he was Newcastles manager. Like others, i wish him well, but cannot see him doing much. Who ever takes over the job at Newcastle needs time, a thing the fans do not appear to give.

Look at the most successful managers in recent times, and see how long it was before they won anything.

Ferguson and Wenger took years to succeed, will the fans be that patient? I doubt it.

If he takes Chris Coleman with him, will this alienate the fans of Alan Shearer?

Will Shearer snipe from the side lines?

Don't want to heap on the misery of the Newcastle fans, but since Mighty Mouse came in he showed exactly why they should never have sacked Big Sam. KK is clueless, and i am afraid that newcastle will be in a relegation fight pretty soon. AS I said, it will all end in tears...I love it when we beat any team, but 11 goals in two games??? Very poor.

^ Newcastle's form at this juncture of the season doesn't look very good although it would be a huge shock to see such a big club with European ambitions go down.

Not unknown for big clubs to go down, think of Leeds United, the big difference of course is that Newcastle united are I believe in good financial shape.

Shorter than even I thought it would be....

From Teamtalk:

Keegan quits at St James' Park

Kevin Keegan has confirmed to the League Managers Association he has resigned as manager of Newcastle after just eight months in charge.

The news brings to an end huge confusion surrounding Keegan's future at the club, after talk of his departure first emerged on Monday evening.

Keegan held talks with Newcastle's hierarchy on Monday and Tuesday, and reports of him being sacked begin to leak out of St James' Park.

However, Newcastle denied he had been sacked and then Keegan insisted through the LMA that he had not resigned.

Now following further talks, Keegan has indeed quit his role - bringing to an end his second spell in charge, after he took charge following Sam Allardyce's depature.

Keegan, in a statement released by the LMA, said: "I've been working desperately hard to find a way forward with the directors, but sadly that has not proved possible.

"It's my opinion that a manager must have the right to manage and that clubs should not impose upon any manager any player that he does not want.

"It remains my fervent wish to see Newcastle United do well in the future and I feel incredibly sorry for the players, staff and most importantly the supporters.

I have been left with no choice other than to leave."

LMA chief executive, Richard Bevan, who has been working closely with Keegan in recent days, said: "The LMA has been supporting Kevin during a very difficult period.

"We share his great disappointment and frustration that the situation could not be resolved."

You get the feeling that Keegan found out about Newcastle trying to sell Barton and Owen, on the last day of the transfer window, the same way the rest of us did, by listening to Talksport !!!!!!!
He couldn't possibly stay after that.
The only surprise was it dragged out so long.
It did mean that anyone who backed Keegan, to be the first premier manager to leave, lost their money when Curbishley was sacked !!!!!!!

The saga continues:
(from teamtalk):
Nigerians keen to buy into Toon
A consortium of wealthy Nigerians are planning to buy out Mike Ashley's stake in Newcastle United, according to a report in Africa.
Current owner Ashley is trying to find a buyer for the ailing Premier League club, after proving unsuccessful with his initial efforts to secure a sale.

Ashley has announced he wants to sell his interest in Newcastle just 16 months after staging a £134.4million takeover.

Dubai International Capital (DIC) have ruled themselves out of the running, making it clear they are not "planning a bid for any football club".

However, a Nigerian company claim they have £350million behind them - and are bidding to secure the remaining funding which would improve their chances of a successful takeover.

Chief Executive Officer of the NVA Management, Chris Nathaniel, whose company are handling the deal, wants to make Nigeria the first African country to own a Premier League club.

He told www.KickOffNigeria.com: "All along I have been working hard to get wealthy and football loving Nigerian entrepreneurs to buy the club since Mike Ashley indicated his willingness to sell the club to the person, people or entrepreneurs who can meet the £400million selling price of the club.

"Right now I am happy to tell you that well meaning Nigerians have responded and the consortium of Nigerian entrepreneurs has so far contributed £350million to buy the club.

"Ashley has stood his ground that he won't sell the club until the money is raised to the asking price of £400million.

"So what that means is that we need to raise another £50million or £100million to shut the door behind the other top Arab companies who are also interested in the club. "The Arab companies have also indicated interest and made offers - but they haven't met the asking price too."

Hmmm. I am pretty sure I received an email from them some time ago telling me they got 350 mil they need to take out of the country. All they need is my bank account so they can deposit the 350 m there. I get 10%. I guess because I did not reply fast enough they now offer the deal to Cashley...
