Hi Guys,

I have bought my first LED TV a 24 inch supermarket set. As I have only had LCD before I'm wondering if this newly purchased LED has a problem. I suspect it is a common issue, if it is an issue at all. I have attached a photo but I'm not sure if it will show accuratly the issue.

TIA

So what do you perceive the issue to be?

Difficult to find some display with zero bleed, but looking at that picture, IMO that's too much + it's placement in the top middle makes it an irritating distraction that can't be overlooked. I'd return it and demand a new one, & if possible check it in the shop before taking it home.

That's far too prominent.

I'm guilty of buying cheap Bush branded Tellies and have not come across one remotely as bad as what yours displays.

Return and exchange.

Did you have it calibrated and software upgraded at the purchase point ( read shop ) before delivery?

It was a Tesco internet order, our store doesn't sell TVs, Sure thing I will box it up for a replacement.

Unfortunately supermarkets don't offer this bespoke service.

If you select the TJC channel from the epg it will be cured. Have faith.

Try turning the brightness down, the bleed your seeing is from a improperly aligned LED strip lighting bar, this LED bar has super bright LED's (24 or more) that light up the back of the screen, if the diffusion mask or LED strip is out of alignment you will see something like in your photo.

Nothing short of tasking it apart can be done except trying to turn down the brightness to see if it goes away, I would send it back calling it hidden shipping damage.

I had a strip from an LED back lit TV, I turned it on, I emediatly turned it off and went out and got my gas welding goggles, they are really really bright, it lit up my whole house.

I have turned the brightness down but it had no affect, it changed the rest of the screen but not the rogue LED's.
It's going back because I don't fancy opening it up, I only took delivery yesterday so I will try to get it replaced.

I wonder if I will have more success in saying damaged in transit or faulty item after all it is a manufacturing fault?

Suppliers rarely actually check these days but, as you've found, simply take your word for it.

Indeed, your faulty one will more than likely find its way back into the supply chain without actually being fixed. Argos once supplied me with what was clearly a faulty return item ...... the Manager's ears bled after that particular incident.

Last time I bought a lcd, I went to a shop with large numbers on display, looked for the best one (within my price range), found a 27" Samsung socalled gamimg monitor that had a -very- good backlight 'evenness', and demanded to buy it. The 'it' was the unit on display in the shelf, not taking the chance of getting some random one and once home seeing trouble. The staff refused, but I persisted and got it. It's excellent, using it for tv\pc \sat.

Buy lcd's like you'd buy a woman, take a look first, don't get them in a sealed mystery box and wrapped in plastic lol+++
