Didn't know where to put this so i thought this may be the best place, fee free to move if it isn't!!

What is the law regarding showing footy on FTA channels in pubs. Specifically SPL matches on the Business Channel at 42e.

Thanking you in anticipation.:-csmile

Not sure about the SPL, as most talk is about legal action for showing the English Premier league, see this thread.

I'm sure that the SPL have copyright for the whole of the UK sold to various broadcasters but whether they would bother if it is shown in a pub outside of Scotland is another matter. You don't say where you ar steviem.

The whole subject is up in the air at the moment, but my take on it is this, if you are showing a football match to your pub customers, then technically you require permission from the SPL, as you are rebroadcasting to an audience.

There is also the factor of the UEFA proscribed transmission periods, I presume that Scotland also have a period during which the TV stations cannot show SPL matches, to protect the gates of the lower leagues.

At the end of the day, in the first instance, probably the worst that would happen, would be that you would be asked to stop showing the matches, if indeed anything at all happens.
