Hi guys, i'm new in forum, just discovery it yesterday, and read some topics, great stuff here, congrats to all members.
I'm from Portugal and i love feed hunting with my 2,30m FP dish in Ku band only, at this moment i'm thinking in give a try to C-band, and that's why i create this topic, is there on the market any lnb to receive the both bands (C/KU), without signal loss, comparing with a lnb only for a band?
If someone can post some opinions about this or suggest lnbs options would be great.

*sorry about my s**ht english.

regards

That type of LNB could be OK for very strong KU satellites only, this is the worse solution in my opinion, the C band still good enough.
I have tested one unit a couple of years ago and the result was not good (of course, I know KU on a mesh is not the best but in this case it was very bad).

I have nothing of this, but a good friend Thatcham;), some amount and comment:
180cm in antenna performance FP Ku band antenna is less than 90cm offset + ku LNB.
-----------
No tengo nada de esto, pero un buen amigo Tatcham;), monto algunos y comento:
En una antena de 180cm FP el rendimiento en banda Ku es inferior a una antena de 90cm offset + LNB ku.

I had a wsi combo, and it was sh@t at ku, & cband as it was always a trade off between the 2.

The one I had, if you had the plate in, it turned the C-Band and Ku to L+R.

This was ok for the cband but not for ku.

You would be much better off with saperate lnb's

Agree with that! I had couple of combo LNBs. After tests on 1,5m PFA and getting very bad reception in Ku, got rid from one of the LNBs. Still have second one, completely new. Will dry another attempt on 1,8 PFA. Or will do comparison test Combo versus 2 separate LNBs (C and Ku).

I have tested several c/ku band lnbs with great success on c band but ku band suffers. I would suggest maybe a side mounted lnbf as I have on my 2.4m dish.

Thanks all for answers, really help me to take a decision, will buy C band LNB only, and will mount a 1,80 FP dish i buy a few days to Ku band. My point was to take advantage of higher gain in my 2.30 dish in the two bands, but if i'll loss signal in Ku band, better install another dish for Ku only.
So, any tips for a good C band LNB in Europe please?

regards

Installing 2 dishes (C-band and Ku-band) is more proper way to go. Even more properly would be add another dish for C-band Circular and another dish for Ka-band.
In your case, if you install separate 1,8m dish just for Ku band, you will probably not get better performance in Ku-band if you were installing Ku LNB next to C LNB on your 2,3m dish (maybe I am wrong).
BTW, @trip82 you could show picture of your 2,3 dish! Placing pictures of dishes is not a criminal act in this forum

Good morning Costactc, hope life is good for yourself.

¿Is it possible please that when you have 5 minutes you could possibly upload a detailed foto of your C/Ku band LNB arrangemount on the dish?....it would be a great help and thank you. respect-048.gif

Yes same for me, it was the negative comments on the different threads here that told me not to buy a C-Band + Ku single LNB.

Re: 'any tips for a good C band LNB in Europe'....well the, nearly all agreed, best C-Band LNB is probably the one that is sadly no longer sold as such...the WSI as covered in my search for a dual LNB:-
https://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/threads/help-locating-a-c-band-dual-feed-lnbf.164848/

The ordered titanium ones arrived just a few days ago and the initial provings seem good and again as most here advised it would be.

Good luck with your work. :)

Thanks Costactc and appreciated....notice that the scaler on your pics is set way back on the actual LNBF body as opposed to what I normally see on threads ie:-Copy of 102_1432.jpg
¿Is this dependent on your own dish/set up etc?

I use that dish exclusively for circular c band and I noticed a drop in picture quality over the Winter. I do have plans on working on the feed this year, I don't think the positioning of the scalar ring accounts for that issue but I will check that out as well.

Hi guys, only a question of a beginner in the C Band: to change polarity from linear to circular, the only option is do it manually, right? Inserting the dielectric piece?

thanks
