Sounds like it may be an incompatibility issue between CAM and receiver, have you tried another slot?

good point rolfw. will try different slot tomorrow.

mind you would be a bit p**sed of if it is a faulty slot in receiver as ALL my kit is brand spanking new (still has that lovely fresh plasticy smell...mmmmmmm!)

Maybe the smell means its overheating.

nah - it's that familiar "fresh from the factory smell" that all electrical goods smell like before you switch them on!

:)

Try it without the Cam, i.e. patch your receiver with the latest s/ware and enter new keys in code menu for Conax. Works fine on mine without freezing (e.g. Kiosks)

@ ciarank, wasn't suggesting that the slot may not be working, but that some receivers require the multi CAM to be placed in the second slot for it to have full control.

tried the CAM in the second slot and getting same symptoms.

what is actually happening is that i can watch a particular channel for hours but once i switch channel i lose all pay per view's.

again, the only way to fix it is to power off at receiver.

very strange

Hi ciarank
To obtain a patch for your Fortec you need to download from a site such as:-

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Fortec/

Look in the Files section for the Al7bar FSCI 5100 Ultra file. A downloader is included in the file. This will patch your receiver to Allcam. Use an RS232 serial cable.

Use the software from the Fortec Al7bar site. Much more versatile.

hi llew

does that then negate the need for a CAM?
haven't quite figured out what the Al7bar sw does yet.
