My Satellite Setup
1.80m dish with Invacom SNF-031 in Madrid for Freesat reception

Hello forum, I´m new here and just an amateur user. I´m in madrid and have a set-up consisting of a 1.8m dish and what I think is an Invacom SNF-031 Universal Single LNB with a small feedhorn - it works very well. See photos.
I want to set up a second receiver in the basement, so I want to replace the LNB with a dual output and run a new cable, to have two separate cables, one for each each TV decoder for maximum signal strength. Searching the web I can´t find a suitable dual or quad output LNB with the older style 23mm neck for attaching to the feedhorn, for a plug and play solution (see photos). Invacom don´t seem to manufacture them any more. Any suggestions?

Second question would be: I´ve been told that the Invacom setup with feedhorn is perhaps one of the best solutions for marginal or fringe reception - should I still focus on this arrangement or is the state of the technology better these days and a new 40mm without feedhorn sufficient, and something like an Inverto Black Ultra Twin would suffice.
But , I´m not sure if there are conversion kits to attach to my dish or the LNB support to accept a 40mm LNB neck??

I think, you have several options. There are some of them:
1- look on the second hand market Invacom Twin or Quad, replace existing LNB by it;
2- make a new LNB-holder for 40mm neck and install Twin or Quad LNB. You might also need to change the feedarms to be able properly adjust the LNB.
 
Invacom was the best but thex dont maaake them anymore . Iv Inverto Black ULtra is the beszt at the moment . FTE Maximal is good too. Fagor and Rxe Ekselans. Not a type o but a relal name.

Corectiom from me You need an Inverto Pro c120.
 
Welcome to the forum, as said above, there are still a few Inverto Pro C120 Twin LNBs around, a few in the UK on ebay, but I'm sure they'll either post to spain for an extra charge, or there'll be some available in Spain. Also the MTI c120 twin is available new from Pulsat in the UK.

PS. A dual LNB was a different beast, a bit like the current wideband LNB, they had two output ports, but one would be vertical and one horizontal.

Many thanks, any suggestions of who supplies feed-arms or the mounting neck for a Prodlin dish? Is this something you can readily buy or do I need to get creative? Looks like Global Invacom have purchased the Prodelin product range in the UK.

There is nothing wrong in being creative :cool: You can get some ideas from the attached picture. Also, you can find the main measurements for LNB placement (red dot represents antenna's focal point). In case you can not manage to come up with some solution, I could make a set for you, but need to check postal regulations about allowed package size. Prodelin180.webp
 
Given the scarcity of C120 flange LNBs, I fabricated a flange that fits into the feed of a standard LNB (Inverto Black PLL) and accommodates an aluminum tube with a 25mm outer diameter and 19mm inner diameter.
On the input side, there is another flange—or a machined feed—designed to attach to a prime-focus dish.

No, I was just adding that a "Universal" "twin" C120 LNB is what's required, the old "dual" LNBs were for multiswitches, which provided multiple feeds from one LNB, similar to today's quattro LNBs, which are also for multiswitch use. Have a look at ebay.es, looks like there are a few on there, but there are also quattro and dual ones on there, the dual ones being wideband, so one H output and one v output, not Universal.

Many thanks for all the feedback - I´ve located a duel output with the older style flange thanks to the above links & hints, and will look to wire it all up and see what happens. Kind regards!

'For this Madrid dish, you want a normal offset-dish Universal Ku LNBF, which makes the 23 mm Inverto MultiConnect Twin or Quad a sensible type of replacement if the existing clamp really is 23 mm.

From your photo, the existing LNB also looks very much like a narrow-neck Inverto-style unit, so I think your original description of a 23 mm holder is probably correct.

For this dish I’d therefore be looking at:


  • Twin: Inverto Black MultiConnect 23 mm, IDLB-TWNL20-MULTI-OPP
  • Quad: Inverto Black MultiConnect 23 mm, IDLB-QUDL20/24-MULTI-OPP
  • Or the Kreiling KR 223 / KR 4423 23 mm equivalents.

And importantly: you do not need a separate prime-focus feedhorn or C120 LNB for this dish.


One other thing jumps out from the photo: because this is such a large dish, LNB fore/aft position in that clamp can make a surprisingly large difference. A few millimetres closer to or farther from the reflector can change weak UK satellite reception noticeably. So when replacing it, I would mark the present LNB position before removing it, then fine-tune the new one for maximum quality rather than simply putting it in the same approximate place.

My experience is the Inverto Multiconnect LNBs are poor performers and should only be used in multi LNB setups where there isn't space for a normal LNB. The other LNB suggested looks to have a more conventional feedhorn so will likely perform better than the Invertos.

Yes, those Inverto Multiconnect LNBs are terrible when they get water droplets sitting on the little feedhorn.
