Just a quick message of sympathy for his family, who lost him at Sundays MotoGP in probably the most unfortunate set of circumstances.

Let's not also forget the traumatic experience of the two other riders who collided with him after the initial accident.

RIP Marco.

I've just seen some stills of what must have been a harrowing and horrifying crash and my sympathies go out to all involved.

Indeed my condolences to his family I have seen the various slomo recordings on youtube and he did not stand a chance and the others could do nothing to avoid him, I do feel for Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi after that bizarre set of circumstances.

Whilst the crash (and re-runs on various sites) are part and parcel of the aftermath, does anyone know just why Marco veered from the outside into the centre, completely out of control ?

As I said CH bizarre, from the alternate camera angles I have seen, he was scraping along the ground at the right hand side of the bike and the bike was carrying on generally upright, but what was making him veer right in a corner that would naturally make him drift left, I have no idea, I did wonder if there had been an off camera tank slapper and the handlebar knocked him out and then off the bike

Im not a great motogp fan but I watch the occasional race. Marco was a talented rider and his death tragically reminds us yet again motor sport is a dangerous game where death can arrive with almost no warning.

It was certainly a weird accident and you have to feel for Rossi & Edwards who literally had nowhere to go

I was watching the race when it happened, Marco's front end went under him and if he had let go of the bike he may still be here now, but he held on and the momentum of the bike took him into the path of Colin and Valentino.
No one was to blame but it is a tragic loss of life of such a talented young man.

Thanks, on the BBC the only camera view was from the rear.
