So, I have just upgraded my old analogue motorised system to a new (second hand) receiver/positioner. It's a Manhattan DSR-2500 APCI. The system works fine picking up FTA digital channels from different sats.

However, I want to watch P/ship footie and know I need a CAM to decrypt some channels.

From what I've read the M/rev card is widely supported (and upgradable via the pcmcia slot on a laptop?), but the Dragon CAM seems to be the new kid and can support more channels (or at least channels the MR doesn't decrypt).

So, which CAM to go for?

All feedback/personal experience welcome. From what I can make out the MR is best to go for, but does anyone think the Dragon is a better path?

Cheers,

i believe the 2500 receiver will not fare well with either CAM you have mentioned

Certainly this receiver has been widely reported to have poor reception problems with any derivative of the MM and MR series

Check that your supplier allows you to test the two together and offer a refund if they do not work.

Reading most of the posts it seems that the reciver and programmer have a great deal to do with what people consider to be best cam.
I have a Echostar 2110 Dragon cam and Dynamite programmer ( this programmer as a dragon loader built in) and have never had any trouble getting it to open any transponder or channel that it says it will given the right keys.

Will try and answer both questions with this reply.
1) As far as I can see preditor 2.2 will not open certain channels because there are no keys in the public domain for them.
2) 11408/Hotbird there are two encriptions on this transponder CW/Meg2, thay give a total of 9 channels, 7 of these are decripted, the 2 that give me blank screen are TVN 1 Europe and US. Hope this helps.
