Hi, I've been searching through the forums, but haven't found an answer to this (it could've been there - but I was just too stupid to see it). I'm a complete newbie in this area - and knowing that, hired a technician to set up our Mediastar M-IR5000 to receive Arabsat, as the Orbit booklet instructs. I bought this receiver from a friend when she left, and there was no instruction booklet; and I can't find one online. The technician seemed to know what he was doing - swears he's set the satellite to the correct coordinates - and indeed - the TV is receiving both Nilesat (what we had before), and Arabsat channels - but no Orbit channels. Well, except for Fox News. He reset the receiver, deleting all the stations and repeated it - with the same results. Now to the question(s), Is anyone familiar with this particular receiver (the specs are at http://mediastaruae.com/productdetails.php?productid=33&maincatid=6 - but our receiver doesn't look exactly like that) - and though the specs say it's IRDETO Embedded, will this work with the current Orbit cards? One site says it was made in 2005. The customer support at Orbit wasn't much help, she just kept repeating what the Orbit web site said, problem is, I can't "select" Arabsat Satellite / Noorsat 1 (aka Eurobird 2) - because it isn't one of the "Antennae/Satellite" selections. It lists about 41 other satellites; and it doesn't seem to allow 'additions.' I'll probably be heading into town for more assistance, but wondered if anyone could offer any suggestions. Blessings all.
