Hi,

Bit of a quandry as to what motor to buy for my Dreambox 7000s.

I like the reviews of the Moteck and of course the price.
But how does it compare over long time with others such as Stab, Cryptic etc..

Some guys have had their Moteck for 2 years problem free whereas others have had problems early on.

I must admit to a bias toward the Moteck though :)

Cheers for any info.

I have been using a Motec for 2 years now, I live 100 metres from the sea and in summer its 40 degrees +, despite the salt and sun it has never failed and I don't suppose I've adjusted the East/West positions for the satellites more than 3 times in 2 years.
I would gladly recommend one.

Many thanks for reply.
I have got one now from Ebay, new, delivered for £50.

I am not sure that I have the correct fittings for the dish though (Gibertini)
I had a fixed system before.

Have you got a photo (or anyone else for that matter) of a Moteck fitted to a dish?
I would like to see how it matches up with mine.

Hopefully attached is a piccy of mine.
As you can see it stickes out a bit and when the motor is on I feel it will be more sticky outy?
Maybe I need a diff fitting to dish?
Cheers for any info.

You could get in contact with MHKU in the dreambox section. He installed one of these a few weeks ago. He had a few problems but sorted it in the end. Have a brouse through the threads. Im sure he will point you in the right direction.

I'm sure it will work fine, but as you say there seems to be a large offset on the bracket you have. Add that to the offset from the fixing pole to the motor output shaft, and you do get quite a standoff from mounting pole to dish-face.

For £50 though, who cares if your motor wears out every three years?!?!

I've had the Gib 85cm and Gib 1m and Gib 1.25m dish on my moteck SG-2100A at different times, the 1.25m during the high winds earlier this year, no problems noticed.

@Happy-Buddah

Do you have any photos of the rear of your dish?
I am wondering what sort of fitting is needed between moteck and dish because the az-el fitting I have now will stick out too much I reckon.

@john_graydon

Thanks for that I will take a look.

@BGonaStick

hehe, yeah true but I am a Taurean and we are perfectionists :)

Your dish bracket should be OK, but the u-bolt ends may need cutting short. The cables come out of the underside of the motor and will hit the bolts when turning. Good luck with the installation!

@HB

Great ! :)
Thanks for the pics, so it looks like exactly wot I ill have then when all motorised. ie. keeping the original az-el bracket on rear of Gibertini.
So as well as providing me with some useful info/pics you have learned how to do the digicamera stuff :) 2 way teamwork... I like it

Question....
I know that the Latitude/Elevation setting on the motor mount should be 52.2 degrees for me (Bromsgrove) but what decclination angle should I set the dish bracket to?
I have never fully worked this one out. As it is now , fixed on Hotbirds, it was easy (point and shoot) but the declination needs to be properly set now motorised. I think the Gib dish offset is 21.5 degrees? and this has to taken into account when setting up ?? or am I getting it wrong?

You have the exact same equip as me now and a little run through on how you set yours up would be real helpful :)

Cheers again bud for any help.

I have set that to accept now and not sure unless someone PM's me.

What can I say, really sorry.
I hope that you copy/pasted your reply to a temp text file so you won't have to type it all again....assuming you wanna now of course.
Ifr you don't I fully understand :(

skipper, I'm just down the road from you & I work in Bromsgrove - have you got it all sorted? You need to set 2 angles, one on the dish and one on the motor...
