Hi,

I currently have a Motorised system to pick up channels around Europe. I would like to subscribe to the setanta package, and i'm wondering if my receiver will allow me to do so?

ive got a Fortec Star Omega Receiver _http://www.fortecstar.com/estore/storefront/default.asp?ProductID=97&CategoryID=4 .... recently NASN was on freeview, and i borrowed a Sky Digital card from a friend, put it in one of the embedded slots on the receiver, but could not view the channel.

So, if i get a Setanta package specific card will it work, or if not, what do i need? and what specific receiver to get the full Setanta package while continuing to view euro satellites?

You will need a Sky digibox, at least to activate the card, then one of the few CAMs which will work with a Sky digital subscription card. Probably better to get a sky digibox.

The Setanta package runs using the Sky paltform, so to get it on satellite you need some way of reading AND updating a Sky card.

Someone will no doubt confim or deny, but a Trex/Dragon or Diablo CAM should do the trick for the reading part. But you would still need a means of keeping the card alive. The only non-Sky receiver to do this that I know of is a Linux box with appropriate plug-ins. So a 2nd hand cheapo Sky box from ebay or somewhere would do the trick.

Actually, a Sky box, unless you have lack of space under your telly, would be the most cost effective solution anyway, although you might have to put up an additional minidish to keep it happy.
