can you get espn on 40.5 w ?.

All the C-Band men who regularly post can get ESPN from 40.5W, it is an easy catch.
One forum user "pride21", managed to lock ESPN with a 1.5m dish. (post 120 in the link below).

A polo pipe or rib tickler gives extra signal boost compated to the domino dielectric plate that often comes with an LNBF.
A breadboard plate is reported by a few users to give better perforamce than a domino plate but I have not tried the breadboard myself.

Stick a dish up and get sniffing, you will soon be pouring Poop from 40.5W.
Forum member "manik" has been on C-Band for just over a week with a 1.8m dish and already he is pouring Poop.

i bought a cm 1.8m with only lnb holder and arms for 60 euro what a bloody bargain and got a local guy to fabricate and weld up a polarmount all copied from the pics of the one on sat superstore the cost was 250 euro and all made from 9mm steel the polarmount weighs in at 35 kg,he done a awesum job,but i have yet to erect it.

i have my 1.85m motorised on ku band does a great job,but i would like to have the cm 1.8m on ku band and the mabo 1.85 offset dish on c band.

Swallow a couple of blue ones and get it up, what you waiting for, you will soon be pouring C-Band Poop
At your location you might do better than the UK men on 40.5W as you are more Westerly and could possibly have a slightly stronger footprint from the satellite?

Mr MB he not wrong bwana - we notice how he can receive a particular signal down South that's a bit stronger than us up here in the Midlands or further North - so yeah, the beam being squirted at you from the 40.5West position could possibly possibly be a tad stronger than what we get further East of you, but don't quote me on it.

The footprint beam has you at the same signal level as most of the UK but you never know.
There are sometimes variations of signal level at different locations even though they are shown on the footprint map as being under the same beam dBW output.

As @John indicates above, locations 150 miles apart can sometimes have different signal levels for the same satellite/frequency even though they should theoretically be the same per dish size.

You are only gonna find out by sticking a dish on it and testing.

Yes, strongest in the evening with me, they can go weak and pixillate in the day..

38.0 East is the real test, that 40.5W is a doddle.
The kids round 'ere are pulling in 40.5W using old cycle wheels joined together with cable ties to make a mesher petal dish

Get the dish up, you soon find out the answer.
