Hi,

I am currently distributing my channel to 5 rooms of the house using a video modulator in the UHF frequency connected to a diseqc multiswitch.

due to the lack of HD capabilities, I have an idea of broadcasting the channel in the receivers box in the rooms instead of using terrestrial channel I will be using digital channel.

I need to know the equipment I need to transmit the signal to the receiver. The main idea is to hookup the equipment to a free sat input in the multiswitch and find that channel in the reveiver.

:):)

I'm not really sure what you are trying to do, but if you are considering digitally modulating an analogue channel and inserting it into an existing satellite feed, you will have real problems and also the equipment needed to do this is very expensive. Please clarify precisely your intention.

If your looking for an HDTV channel modulator, it is also going to be expensive, if this is what you want to do then look at this one, but I don't know if it will do PAL.

rolfw, yes that what I am trying to do.

(HDMI or ANALOG signal) --> MPEG modulator --> ku band tramitter over coax ---> Satellite feed ---> Receiver

I should search a certain frequency in the receiver and I should get my channel.

Terryl , I need to use the existing receiver and TV's I don't want to change anything.

cheers

They don't make a Ku band transmitter for domestic usage like you want to do, Ku band is too high a frequency (11 to 12 GHz) to put on standard coax anyway.

The HDTV modulator I posted above will take your receivers TV signal output and re-transmit it as a digital TV signal on what ever TV channel you specify.

They dont make an HDTV modulator for under $300 yet, the demand is not there yet, in fact some of the better ones are quite costly, like this one.

then can I take the stream and put it in any transmitter and connect this directly to the stellite feed in multiswitch

I doubt you can - you are going to need a source of some sort....

No, the signal from the LNB/satellite dish (if this is what I think you want to do) is "L" band, (800 to 2.5 GHz) they don’t make a transmitter to interface with this. (Not at consumer prices that is)

What you need to do is use the RGB (component HD video), S-video or video plus audio out of your satellite receiver to feed the HDTV channel generator, (see my post #7) this will give you a TV frequency (HDTV digital) that you can run to your TV sets as an RF signal. (Just like you are doing now but now at HDTV quality and at UHF TV channels as described in your first post)

There is no way to do this at satellite transponder frequencies or at the LNB output frequencies, not without spending a very big pile of money.
