A totally unrelated question to the hard graft of satellite mastery - just a quicky on programmers :)

I have gotten hold of a circuit that allows a PIC12C508 chip to control a driver for an LED project that I want to have a bash at (RGB LED SEQUENCER affair).

Q: Been looking at the cost of programmers and they all seem hidiously expensive. Anyone got any suggestions on how to buy an *affordable* PIC programmer, what's best for this basic level chip, should I make my own, et al.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated; so, thanks in advance.

Mark.
