My Satellite Setup
satellite setup, SKY Dish.
My Location
South Dublin, Ireland
Hi,

I need to install SKY Dish in my room as I can not install it on the outside wall. My location is South Dublin, Republic of Ireland and I am using SKY dish. My home is at ground floor. Need to know
1. How I can install?
2. Is it necessary to put the dish in absolutely vertical position?
3. Is there a way to check the signal strength?
4. Since I have removed the dish and put it again, do I need to do any kind of set up or do I need to call up the call centre for any kind of reset.
5. Does the satellite signal get disrupted due to brick walls, glass walls etc?
6. Is there any other kind of reciepter available in the market that can catch satellite singal from inside of a home without using a dish?

PS: I do have a valid SKY connection and have the decryptor SKY HD+ Box with me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
SP

Hello

Welcome to the forum sponsatellite

This is a self help forum and all the information you require is already on the forum, there are numerous threads about indoor dish installation but you will have to read them for example

You will need an South Easterly facing window however your dish may not be big enough if you are intending having the window closed

It won't work through brick.
It might work looking through a glass window.

I should work with the widow open, as long as the dish gets a clear view.

I couldn't get a sniff through the window on a minidish. I'm pretty sure I'll get some inspiration from Analoguesat nearer the time!

Tested a 45cm dish window mount on Sunday through a recently installed large panel double glazed unit. The unit completely blocked the signal, not a sniff with it closed.

Newer types of double glazing are measured in terms of SHGC (Solar Heat Gain Coefficient) and the higher value glass is coated with a film of polyester, or metal, which reflects around 95% of microwave radiation to improve the thermal properties.
