Talking to my next door neighboor today about my intrest in getting a motorised sat system to cure the boredom from Sky. He replied by saying that he was thinking the same thing last week because he was wanting to watch sports and football from other sats.

Now, I don't know anything about premiership footy or other leagues for that matter so I couldn't advise him on anything, but I said I would ask.

He's looking to view all possible matches, but away from Sky and satanta. I think he's looking for the FTA ones, but if that's not possible he's wanting to know where to watch (which sat) and what he'll need to view them.

He talks of watching games whilst on holiday and some clubs here in the uk (not sure about the legal side of that?) so I guess he's seeing if he can get in on this.

What do you think? Couldn't find anything in the search on this topic so soory if it has been asked, which I'm almost certain it has. :p

W2 @ 16e, DigitalB Supersports package would be a good choice.

Gone and had a look at this and the site itself and it will suit his needs.

Now, I'm going to try and help him choose what he needs with reagard to equipment. Should he choose a reveiver with a conax card reader built in or get another receiver and buy a cam?

This will be his main veiwing so it's not all about what features the box has, just what he needs.

I haven't got it but personally would choose a receiver and cam.

tbh I was thinking the same thing. He wants HD aswel so might recommend something like Technomate 6800/6900 which I think Robbo has.

Is there a PM service on this forum? can't seem to see it.

Hi, The TM6800/TM6900 will work with the DigitAlb card, not sure if patching is required to read the card as mine was already patched when I bought it.

The same goes for the TM 5300,5400, although I think that they will read a Conax card straight from the factory(like the TM6800). If I turn off the patch, the Digitalb card still works.

I'm using my DigitAlb card on a Conax Cam at the moment, with version 4.00e on it for DigitAlb. The only reason I'm using the CAM is that I have my Sky FTV card in the card reader slot, and there is only one slot. The DigitAlb card worked fine in the card reader slot.

The TM6800 should cost about £225 at the moment, maybe cheaper, as they have just brought out the super version, with a couple of extra features.

I also have a Bigsat BS-S77CX, which also has Conax embedded and worked OK with DigitalB, apart from channels requiring a PIN. That was very cheap, I only paid £26 for it, but it is a pile of poo, OK for a fixed dish though, or for 28E, but build quality sucks.

Robbo:)

Great info there Robbo. I will suggest that he gets the TM6800. I wasn't aware that the card would work without a cam so that will save a few £££. He doesn't have Sky so it will be the only card he has apart from his satanta one, but that's a cam so would go in the Common Interface slot.

What games do you get? Can he expect to receive most of them? His son is in to wrestling. Can he get this on the same package?

Finaly. What's the cost? (if you don't mind me asking)

Cheers mate.

I don't have the sports package, I have the movie/family package. I paid £125 for that, but it seems that prices have increased in recent months.

I'm now conscious that the price of a system inc a DigitalB Supersports package is going to be in the region of £550.

I want to try and reduce this for him, but the only way I can think of is changing the receiver.

It's still has to be an HD receiver. Any ideas?

Plus, where's some of the places to look for a DigitalB card?

Other receivers that may do the job are Mvision and the Darkbox HD. I have no experience of either, so you will need to do your research.

For DigitalB sports, that will be the Digitalb supersports card.

I have a link in my sig:-

Thanks for the links (knew I saw them somewhere :)). The Darkbox and Mvision seem to fit the bill. I take it that being embeded with a Conax card slot that it doesn't need a cam?

If that's the case then I'll recommend him one of these to help keep the cost down.

Robbo, where did you get your card from? Take it you shopped around. I'm aware that it's not the sports card. Just curious.

Sports Package I found ranged £210 - £230 for 12 months.

The Darkbox should work with a DigitalB card. The Mvision, I have not looked it up, but if it is Conax embedded, then yes, but check with the retailer. Turbosat sells the HD200.

Don't forget that the TM6800 and Darkbox are PVR ready. I don't think the Mvsion is though.
