When I write IP of the Dreambox in the web browser, it doesn't come up with the web interface, it just times out.

I use the IP, that I see from the Expert Setup menu, DHCP enabled. The dbox is connected to a modem, that doesn't leave the local network - there are many computers in the network and also couple of other dboxes, that can actually be accessed from outside. However for this box, I don't have the same ambitions, I would only like the menu to be accessible from the local network.

Can anyone help with an advice what might be wrong?

Welcome to the forum.

Have you looked at the Communication Setup page in the Idiot's Guide? What image are you using?

If you have entered an IP address you should untick DHCP. Can you provide a screenshot of your Communication Setup - how to is in the Guide.

The dbox is connected to a modem,

To see the Dreambox on your network it needs to be connected to the router used by your network.

Good guide, thanks. As I see, box and computers are not on same IP scope. It's a big network, I will have to talk to network administrator tomorrow.
