Has anyone tried the new C/Ku band LNB - BSC621-2D? I know that C/Ku combinations work quite poorly at Ku but maybe this is an improvement?

this l.n.b was being mentioned on another uk forum that i visited recently - and i believe some-one is going to give one a try soon -- on a 1.0 or 1.2 dish ?. i look forward to a report
i,m a bit sceptical of it being a "big" improvement on previous models though -- i hope i,m proved wrong .
the DMX741U that i tried a couple of years ago - worked ok - and was weak on the k/u side.
but the main problem for me was that it was too much of a compromise between C and k/u --
when the position of the l.n.b itself and the position of the feedhorn was at its best for c band , the k/u was especially poor -- and best setup for k/u took away quite a portion of the C band performance . it was hard to get a decent balance on the 1.8 channel master -- and nigh on impossible on the 1.2 c.m.
this may not be the case with all types of dish ? but it was on the offset channel masters.
any new combo l.n.b. will have to be good indeed to beat seperate/offset units .

cheers --

I had DMX741U (just got rid of it) and it was total disappointment, especially in Ku band. Now I purchased combined C/Ku from one Russian company. Unfortunately have no time to install it and test. This LNB has special tube made of ftoroplast to improve reception in Ku. But, anyway, at the end of the day IMHO, it is better to have 2 antennas, one for C and one for Ku :-crying

I had a bsc621 lnbf several years ago on my 3m bud, c band was exceptional but ku suffered. This is why I have seperated my bands on different dishes.

I see no place for depolarization plate, so option #1 try to get C circular on that LNB or install another antenna for C-band circular.

I got new C-band only Lnb from other finnish satmate. He ordered these from yyy.vsat.tv russian language shop.
Originally Lnb is made by DreamTech? This version should work with prime focus and its modified for circular (clearly home made mody). Some kind of depopins inside of plastic-bottle, what I heard.

Not tested yet and it will take few weeks before I have time to test but interesting new toy? Sure I dont believe in advance that this will be better than my present Lnb but time will tell..?

I think we are speaking about same seller _http://www.forum.alyno.ru/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=14641&sid=9910fd48000bc1497e08a6e2d5414e92

Problem is that he is not selling (can not officially sell) out of Russia and some other post-soviet republics like Kazakhstan and maybe some others. I have got mine sold to friend of mine in St.Petersburg and then another friend brought it to Finland and mailed to me. Quiet sophisticated way, but another option was to sell to friend in Kazakhstan and than mail to me. Friend was ready to help, but I think that way wold be even more difficult because of international money transfers.

Yep, that sounds clear. I dont understand russia at all but this finnish mate told that vsat-shop absolutely get things straight from russia. Delivery takes so long that maybe someone transport goods at someones trunk or something?

So, are you heard something about these homemade-Lnb? Good, poor or very poor?

Owner of that company managed to make lots of virtual enemies in Russian-speaking sat-forums, therefore there are lots of people saying that his products are too expensive and have a little or no gain comparing to original LNBs. There are lots of people who are quiet happy, and some saying nothing. I personally think that he is clever person and understands what he is doing.

I am tempted to actually try one of his LNBs as I have family and friends in Russia so could probably arrange something without too much hassle. I am also going there in August, so can just bring it over.

However, I am not convinced his LNBs are worth the salt. Yes, I am sure he knows what he is doing but just how much gain is there over the original LNBs (C or Ku...or both)...?

The casting looks identical to others on the market, and there are only a very few manufacturers (but many distributors, wholesalers and suppliers willing to pay a couple of cents more for a different label and outer carton)

New Product: C1PLL C-Band PLL LNBF
Are you fed-up with the poor performance from your old C-band LNBF? Having trouble locking onto the new DVB S2 high FEC 8psk, 16apsk and 32apsk feeds? Want the convenience of voltage switched polarity and the performance of PLL technology for your C-band satellite system?

Titanium Satellite announces the availability of the first C-band LNBF in North America based on Phase Lock Loop technology. The Titanium Satellite C1PLL is a single output LNBF covering 3.7 - 4.2GHz with an LO frequency of 5150. Frequency stability of +/- 25KHz, 60dB gain @ 15 deg. K. allows reliable reception of the weakest narrow SCPC and high FEC carriers.

The C1PLL includes a dielectric plate for receiving circular polarity signals, 65mm three ring flat scalar and hardware for mounting on a prime focus dish with 3, 4 or button hook assembly. If mounting the C1PLL on an offset type dish, purchase the optional CS1 Conical Scalar kit. The C1PLL LNBF is tested to be completely waterproof and will provide many years of reliable service in even the most extreme enviroments. The PCB and components are custom produced by our partner manufacturer then sorted to "A" grade. The f-fitting is upgraded to the blue insert 3GHz rating and static discharge testing exceeded all competitor units.

Sounds like it might well be worth persuing..
Have just emailed the company to check for availability.

I doubt the gain will exceed similar units ..but PLL would definately provide greater stability over DRO.
I live in hope..
