Today i have purchsed the DVB S usb stick.
I have been trying to set it up but not much luck.
Reading through a few posts did not give me the answer i was looking for.
After installing the drivers correctly & the software that came with the stick i am presented with Blaze DTV 6.0
There are many settings "or looks that way to a novice " to be entered.
I have the usb connected to the Sky dish cable.
Reading a previous post, nearly 2 years old i have managed to find 330 after a scan BUT many of the have a star by them and no picture shown
when that channel selected.
I dont even get the standard freesat channels when a search is completed,i believe this is down to the incorrect settings entered by myself.
Any advice would be good so i can scan for viewable channels.
Questions asked are as follow.
Select Satellite.
Transponder type
LOF1 & 2 setting in MHz.
If you are able to give some advice i would be gratefull & if screen shots are required then i can do that.

Thanks very much.

Well LOF 1 and 2 are the low and high band local oscillator frequencies for your LNB: These will be 9750 MHz and 10600 MHz respectively.

Doesn't matter - those are just Editable labels for heading Transponder lists as you are only dealing with the nominal UK position and bearing in mind your dish/receiver can't actually discriminate between the orbital slots 28.2E and 28.5E (ie they are, to all intents and purposes co-located), just pick one of those (I suggest "Astra 28.2") and scan.

What options are there under "Transponder Type"?

There are many in a list which also show H or V and something like 22000
I have found 317 channels but many have stars next to them and wont view, the scan does not even find many free sat channels.

H and V are Horizontal and Vertical polarisation.

22000 is one of the Symbol Rates used. Another common one is 27500.

Starred Channels are probably NDS Encrypted.

You should be able to find a scan option to find FTA only.

Are you scanning a pre-stored Transponder list? If so, it's bound to be way out of date.

So, if there is a function called Auto scan, Blind scan or even Network scan, fire that up.

There is no auto scan, blind scan or network scan.
I only managed to find say 25 channels earlier but since i have entered the 9750 & 10600 figures i get much more, shame many dont work.
I understnad that they dont work due to going through sky etc but i dont even pick up half the channels of what i receive on my free sat box.
Shall i do some screen shots for you ?

Sorry,i forgot to mention that i am scanning a pre-stored Transponder list as it seems the only option available as the transponder list is shown and i have the option to scan all,i do have the option to add more if i need to but i do not know the figures to enter in the boxes.
Do you know any that when entered and stored i could then click on scan all and these new settings would also be included.
I am asked for the following,
frequency
symbol rate
fec
polarity

What's your card? Maybe there is an alternative software to Blaze DTV (which I don't really like it) that supports your card.

Ok.

What you need to do is visit _http://www.flysat.com/28east.php

The Transponder listing there is bang up to date. Simply edit your pre-stored list to delete redundant ones and add new ones.

Painstaking, but once done, it's done.

It'll be a useful exercise for you to get to grips with the unfamiliar parameters of Satellite Transponders!

Then scan again.

I have deleted ALL the transponders that were in the list and replaced them with ALL that were mentioned on the site from the link supplied in a previous post,i will have a play around tonight and report back tomorrow.

Thanks very much indeed for the quick & good bit of advice.

Ian.

Good plan .............. probably easier than checking and correlating each in turn.

Today i have been playing with it and all seems ok.
Am i correct in thinking all the channels i have at the moment will stay viewable until do another scan ?
Also
Within the Blaze software player you have the option to click on whats called EPG,it also has a list within it of all the channels found when a scan was carried out.
My question is some of the channels have a yellow padlock next to them which would indicate this is a paid for channel like sky sports etc and no picture is viewable,so would it be ok to delete these from the list as i cant watch them so pointless having them there taking up space, this should be ok i think until the next scan would then just find them again unless i remove the transponder setting so nothing is searched for.
Please advise.

Channels will disappear if they change frequency - this happens quite a lot on European satellites.

See if you can find a setting just to scan for fta channels not all channels.

Glad you're getting to grips with it.

Pretty sure you should have an FTA only scan as previously mentioned - which reminds me, you didn't tell me what options appear under "Transponder Type"(Post #4) ..................

Satellite setup lets you select the satellite you wish to use,i am using Astra 2A,2B,2D..>LNB1
Under Find Satellite there is a test button and a setup button.
When i click on the test button after a few second a message comes back saying NO LOCK.
If i click the setup button i see the following,LNB switch type, with a drop down box.
I have the following options to select,22KHZ,mini-DiSEqC,DiSEq1.0/2.0
Which ever i select it then asks me for the LOF1 & LOF2 settings.
I am currently using LNB switch type None with LNB type KU-L Band LOF1 9750mhz & LOF2 1060mhz.
Under the Transponder option i have the choosen satellite of which is Astra 2A,2B,2D
Then below that the transponder list of which i have entered myself last night from the link previously supply.
Nothing else on this page apart from Strength & Quality bars of which read 69% & 33%

This dvb s stick has been working fine and now i would like to also connect it to my sky box.
The dvb stick has a black receiver box with the following on the back.
Power supply
Usb to pc
Lnb in
Lnb out
Currently i have been using just lnb in "on the black box" for the pc and no problems.
I have now connected a sky cable from the lnb out "on the black box" and not sure if to plug it into the sky input 1 or sky input 2 on the sky box.
Also within the blaze lnb settings there are 3 different options to select but not sure which i need.
Basicaly i have 1 sky dish passing through the black box into the pc and / or sky box to tv.
I put and / or as tv will show a picture when the pc is switched off.
The picture below will show a story to those in the know but not me im afraid,so asking for the experts advice, once more

Hi
Me again, this item is still driving me mad.
On the back of the usb receiver box is lnb in and lnb out.
Lnb in is the cable from the dish and Lnb out goes to the second tv as there is a usb leab from the receiver box to the pc.
I am stuck with the settings.
Tv in lounge shows lets say bbc1 perfect BUT when i start the software on the pc it then shows no signal ?
If i stop the software on the pc from running bbc1 is shown again.

Any help would be fine, please advise if possible on how i can overcome this problem.

Thanks
